A very interesting position. 1.Bf6 takes advantage of the fact that black’s rook cannot give up cover on the h-file:
1. Bf6!! Rh6
If black takes the bishop, white retakes with the queen at f6 and threatens Rh8#, which can only be stopped by giving up the queen and the rook for white’s own rook: [1. …gf6 2.Qf6 Qg7 3.Qh4 Qh6 4.Rh8 Kh8 5.Qh6]. Finally, as I noted above, the rook cannot leave the h-file: [1. …Rg4 2.Qh2! with mate unavoidable]. Continuing:
2. Bg5
And white will win the exchange and will maintain massive pressure on black’s king.
1.Bf6, gf6
2.Qf6, Qg7
3.Qh4+,Qh6
4. Rh8+ loses the black queen
Black loses the pawn, rook and queen in exchange for white rook and bishop.
1. …………Rg4
2. Qh2+ Rh4
3. Qh4+, Bh5
4. Qh5#
1. ……… Qg4
2. Bh4, Qf4
3. Rf4, Black loses rook & queen in exchange for a pawn & queen.
1. ………..Qf5
2.Bh4, same as 3rd scenario saving the white pawn.
There are other variations for black but every which way loses material. White is really winning this game.
Bf6!
g3
Poor black rook!
1.Bf6! This move fetches at least exchange.
(A)1…. Rh6
2.Bg5 gains exchange.
(B)1….gxf6
2.Qxf6 Qg7
(white was threatening 3.Rh8# superior to 3.Qh8# as moving the B will not avert mate)
3.Qxh4+ Qh6
4.Rh8+ Kxh8
5.Qxh6+ Bh7
6.g5 Soon white will have to give up advanced g pawn for the bishop.but don’t worry. There is another g pawn.
(C)1… Rxg4
2.Qh2+ leads to mate.
(D)1… Qxg4 or Qf5 2.Bxh4
1.Bf6!
>A-1…gxf6.2.Qxf6.Qg7.3.Qxh4+.Qh6.4.Rh8+.Kxh8. 5.Qxh6+.Bh7.6.g5 winning easily.
>B-1…Rxg4.2.Qh2+!.Rh4.3.Qxh4+.Bh5.4.Qxh5#
>C-1…Qxg4.2.Bxh4!and white is R up and will win easily ..Qxf4.3.Rxf4.
>D-1…Rh6 to escape capture for free.2.Bg5! And the BR is gone!
>>D1-2…Be4.3.Bxh6.gxh6.4.Rf7+.Qxf7.5.Qxf7+ And white has a Q for B an easy win.
>>D2-2…Be8.3.Bxh6.gxh6.4.Qf6.Qg7. To prevent mate at h8.5.Qxg7+.Kxg7.6.Rxe8 and white is a R up free with an easy win.
Black has not her useful move, he can only mark time with a pawn movement.
Harry
1 Bf6 to dislodge the Rook and play 2 Qh6.
If 1 Bf6 gf6 2 Qf6 wins the rook because of the threat of 2 Rh8#
Bf6! gxf6
Qxf6 Qg7
Qxh4+ Qh6
Rh8+ and white shld win.
Bf6! Qxg4
Bxh4 and white wins a piece.
Bf6! Rxg4
Qh2+ Bh5
Qxh5#
Bf6
It is funny to read Harry changing the sex of Black within a sentence.
The answer to
1 Bf6 Rh6 is
2 Qh6+ leading to checkmate with 3 Rh8
Dear anonymous at 1:29:00 CDT,
1.Bf6 Rh6
2.gxh6 Rh8# is a HELP MATE
In reality 1.Bf6 Rh6 2.Qxh6+ is punished by 2… Kxh6 3.Rh8+ Bh7.
I had thought of trapping black R but missed with a whisker.
1.Bf6 Rh6
2.g5 Rh5
3.g4 Rh3
4.Kg2 when black has to leave h file and white plays 5.Qh2+.however I noticed the distasteful move 3….Rh4.
