Asian Amateur and Seniors Championships Start in Lebanon

The 1st Asian Amateur and Seniors Championships are taking place 4-14 June 2010 in Beirut, Lebanon. Eleven countries are seeing action in the two new events of the Asian Chess Federation, namely Palestine, Syria, UAE, India, Iran, Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, Bahrain, Jordan and Lebanon.

A total of US$12,000 are at stake with $6,000 for the Asian Seniors and $6,000 for the Asian Amateur as follows: 1st $1,500; 2nd $1,200; 3rd $1,000; 4th $800 and 5th $500. For the Highest Women are 1st $500, 2nd $300 and 3rd $200.

The novel tournaments are organized by the Lebanese Chess Federation under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation.
