Chess Federation chairman wants to finish last term’s projects
Angola Press – Luanda, Angola

Luanda – The chairman of the Angolan Chess Federation (FAX), Aguinaldo Jaime, on Saturday in Luanda said that in the next four years he will give priority to his programme that started four years ago when he was first elected to this post.

Speaking at the ceremony in which he was sworn-in for a new term as head of the federation, following recent re-election to the post, Aguinaldo Jaime said he will focus on aspects relating to the spread and promotion of chess in Angola.

He said the plan includes the creation of academies, re-organisation of the internal competitions, organising international tournaments in the country and stimulate the competitiveness capacity of players through the massive support to the associations and clubs.

“These actions will only be possible if we can count on the support of all the class involved in this sport, besides the Ministry of Youth and Sports (…)” he explained.

Aguinaldo Jaime also seized the occasion to thank firms like EPAL, ENSA and Cuca, which have been able to give some support to various projects implemented by the federation.

The FAX chairman asked the partners of this sport’s associations to be more aggressive, despite the crisis they are faced with, adding that they should keep on sensitising the traditional sponsors, but also find others, because the programme is ambitious and needs the support of sponsors.

“We’ll also give voice to current and former (professional) chess players and lovers (of this sport) so that they can contribute with their ideas and suggestions, for us to achieve greater success at national and international level” he emphasised.
