Russian Grandmaster Andrey Rychagov won another trophy in the Palechora Open to round up a hat-trick of consecutive victories, having previously claimed the tournament in 2012 and 2013.
Rychagov shared the first place with GM Azer Mirzoev (Azerbaijan) on 7,5/9 points each, but the Russian was declared champion on better tie-break.
The 7th International Chess Tournament of Paleochora was held on 21-28th July 2014 at the Municipality of Kandanos – Selino Community Centre in the Cretan town of Paleochora, Greece.
207 players from 22 federations competed, including 19 Grandmasters and 14 International Masters.
