Anand will have white in game 1. The first game will start at 6 am Texas time / 7 am NY time. I happen to know both Vishy and Boris very well as they are from my generation. We competed against each other many times over the years. I also know the sponsor, Andrey Filatov, very well as he and Boris Gelfand graduated from the same university with me in Minsk.
This year, in addition to this blog, I will provide some commentary on facebook http://www.facebook.com/polgarchess and twitter https://twitter.com/SusanPolgar. I believe this will be a very interesting match as both players are seasoned world class veterans.
Spread the news and join me for the commentary. Hope you will enjoy the match 🙂 Any prediction for game 1?
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
Gelfand looks like an elf. And Gelfand sounds like an elf name; therefore, Gelfand must be an elf. So I hope he wins!

They are both wonderful humans; I think it’ll be level after 12 games. perhaps 2-2 with 8 draws. Anand will probably win the rapids.
Any idea what will be Anands 1st move; he plays it all doesn’t he?
Already played: 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3
Hi, Suzan! Were all moves the best ones? This is amazing! Probably both players had already played all those moves at home in their preparation. Am I right?
