Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
These guys agreed on a draw
Well, I guess if I was playing for money on par with these guys…I’d play for draws, too. But, it’s really boring to watch people that are really more equal than better than their competition.
Anand will draw his way to victory and he’ll lose the world title in the next WCC match. And, afterwards, you’ll have the same few people in the top 10.
Boring…
Really Boring…
I will really (now) pay more attention to my state championship rather than the silly drawish tournaments that include the top 10 players…
None can beat Rybka in a match.
So, it really doesn’t matter which one is “better.”
Boring….
I’d rather look at a turnip all day as that would be more exciting than the drawish “super” GM touraments these days.
Boring!!!!!!!!!
Why is everyone so surprise??? Anand (Mr Draw) only play for draws. He only tries to to take an initiave to win a game only after his opponent has made a major blunder. Anand no longer plays for a win or to try to force a position. He is the most boring World Champion ever.
Not surprised at all. The top players are jokers. It’s so funny to watch them draw each other and they think they’re so great.
They aren’t great. And will never be “great” until they can defeat Rybka or another top chess program in a match…
in a regular game with classical time controls…
But, even if you put them all together as a team…they couldn’t win a match against a top chess program..
especially Rybka.
So, who cares if they draw each other to oblivian???? They are all pathetic carbon copies of each other. Draw, draw, draw, draw…
But none can defeat Rybka in a match…
nor, all put together could defeat Rybka…
Really…it’s boring to watch these jokers “play” chess these days. They aren’t the strongest…
not until they defeat Rybka but, guess what?
They cannot.
And they are all pathetic.
yes…people should really pay more attention to their local chess clubs and state champions rather than these drawish clowns.
Only at the local and state level will you still get good competitive play.
The “top 10” players are an embarrassement to chess…
Draw, draw, draw…
Sounds like a Hank Williams song.
I guess I will be the lone dissenter in order to flavor the conversation a little. Since I dislike draws so much tomorrow I will wake up, rearrange my entire life and I will purpose myself to becoming a GM then I purpose myself to make it in the top 10 in the world in order to demonstate to everyone in the world how not to get draws.
wait a minute…
I guess it just easier to sit at home watch these Super GM’s dedicate their lives to their sport than for me to actually get in their and do it. Yeah, I guess I’ll just sit here and point a finger at those that paid the price to reaching their goals the to actually demonstate to others how its done.
Yeah, that’s actually what I’ll do. Sit and complain about draws that others DO.
That’s easier.

At this level you can’t expect each game to be decided. You can’t expect them to play 7 hours every day to try to win. If each game had a winner, a victory would not be that special. A goal in soccer is more special than a goal in handball or a point in volleyball. There has been many decisive games in Morelia/Linares!
Yes, it is a lot easier to point fingers. Everyone is guilty of it at some point…even you. People criticize others all the time. We criticize politicians but we’re not politicians. We say things of athletes in other sports…but we don’t play professional football, baseball, hockey, tennis, etc.
It’s normal and OK to speak you mind about the stars in the game we love, namely, chess. I’m not saying the top players are “bad.” I’m merely stating that I think they could draw less if they would just play on.
They dedicate their lives to chess…so what? Everyone dedicates their lives to something: work, family, whatever.
You just don’t see this many draws at local and state level competition and many of these players are still 2200 or above. Good chess players! You see in them more of fighting spirit.
That’s all I’m saying. But, as I said earlier, if I was playing for the larger prize funds I’d not be a risk taker. Yet, it does lead to boreing games for the fans.
There’s nothing bad in what I said. Just my opinion…that’s it.
