Every kid deserves a moment in the spotlight, and Austin Worthen’s 15 minutes of fame came just seconds before the buzzer.

The third grade student hauled the ball toward the basket in a last-ditch effort to score some extra points during a tournament in Oklahoma. And when Austin’s half-court shot a success, the boy received a round of applause from enthusiastic audience members who were astounded by the feat.

Oh yeah, and his team won the game. Talk about a good day.

But Austin’s basket wasn’t just a lucky shot. His father told NBC affiliate KOBI that his son had practiced the shot time and time again.

The team ended up placing second overall in the tournament, according to KOCO.
