Amber ticket to be decided in Blitz tie-break
Final round results:
Gelfand – Nakamura | ½ – ½ |
Ljubojevic – Caruana | ½ – ½ |
van Wely – So | ½ – ½ |
Nielsen – Giri | 1 – 0 |
Svidler – Howell | 1 – 0 |
As in the final round of the NH Chess Tournament Hikaru Nakamura caught up with Anish Giri in the fight for the ticket to the Amber Blindfold and Rapid Tournament (Giri lost to Nielsen, while Nakamura drew with Gelfand) a blitz tie-break will decide on the Amber ticket. Fifteen minutes after the last game of the round finishes, Giri and Nakamura will play two blitz games of 3 minutes plus 2 seconds increment per move. If after these two games the score is equal, they will play an Armageddon game, in which White has 5 minutes against 4 for Black with draw odds for Black. Of course these games will be broadcast live in our game viewer.
