Aronian is amazing.
He is head and shoulders above the rest in this tournament.
“He is head and shoulders above the rest in this tournament.”
Except Carlsen. Aronian has been superior in the blindfold games, yes, but Carlsen’s performance in the rapid chess tournament is even more impressive. Magnus has won 8 rapid games (out of 10), while Aronian has only won 4. That’s just insanely strong in a field like this.
The only reason why Aronian has the overall lead is because Magnus hasn’t been that superior in the blindfold games. And Aronian has had his share of luck in this tournament, winning at least two blindfold games in a clearly worse position due to major blunders by his opponents.
Who cares. This is just fun games. Let the true battle begin at the candidates where as we know Carlsen chickened out.
