Yo Ivanchuck Abracadabra! hahaaa , Susan fides top guys too funny! Opps! .Susan Um messin with them but my real teacher is in this event Bem Tyheimba he taught me that the old ideas in their books was basically inaccurate but he didnt know how to execute it but hes the reason they busted. Yeah he used to live on deerfield here in buffalo ny, in real life so i dont know what tricks kasparov is up too! hehe.Susan this puzzzle is too hard it must be a trick?
Both the black queen and rook are undefended. The queen is also in front of the king but I don’t see a way to exploit that. But the unguarded rook is another matter.
Looks like white can take the black knight.
Rxe5 Qxe5 Qg4+ Kf7 Qxc8
Black can play Qe3+ but it doesn’t do anything and white can generate more threats.
Rxe5, if px or Qx, Qg4+ picking up rook at c8
1.Rxe5
1.Rxe5
1. RxN if either QxR or fxe
2. Qg4+ …
3. QxR
I meant Qg4+
1 Rxe5 and 2.Qg4+ (fork)
1. R:e5 followed by 2. Qg4+ picks up a piece.
too easy…1.RxN exR (or QxR (doesn´t matter) and 2.Qg4+ forking the king and the rook on c8). White would be a full piece up.
1. Re5! and no matter how black retakes, Qg4 will win the unprotected rook at c8.
Good for a piece and I don’t see anything else more promising.
From Spain…
1)Re5,fe5 or Qe5
2)Qg4+,Kf7
3)Qc8+-
it seems, white can win the knight with 1. Rxe5 and 2. Qg4+. greets, jan
I like 1. Rxe5 because of the threatened follow-up 2. Qg4+ with the attack on the rook.
1.Rxe5 followed by Qg4+ to snag the Rook on c8 looks good no matter how Black recaptures on e5. Phil
1. R X N then 2. Qg4+ taking the rook at c8…
1. Re5:, then
2. Qg4+
Hah, 1. Re5 wins the knight, since 2.Qg4+ is a very nice fork. 🙂
1.Rxe5 fxe5 (or Qxe5)
2.Qg4+ K moves (or Rg6)
3.Qxc8
And White is up a piece
Pretty easy when you see that the rook on the 8th rank is hanging. 1.Rxe5 .fxe5. 2.Qg4+ .any 3. Qxc8. picks it off with no defense.
Rxe5 and then Q
1. Rxe4! wins a piece as no matter how black recaptures, 2. Qg4+ will pick up the rook on c8, with a totally won position.
My answer was also 1.Rxe5 although i got late in posting it. Was watching Brazil Vs IVC match yesterday.
