‘We R Europe’ team brings a new approach to the European Championships. Under our mandate, the ‘We R Europe’ Team declares that in the European Individual Chess Championship (both Open and Women), one free entry with accommodation will be offered to each national chess federation. The aim of this move is to have all 54 flags present for the top European individual event and to increase its prestige.

‘We R Europe’ Team takes as an example football’s UEFA Cup. The same goal will be achieved for our European Individual Championships. Each national federation will be invited to send their reigning national individual champions (both male and female) for these events. The champions of those who accept, and we hope it will be all, will stay, in single rooms, as the guest of the organizers. Considering the cost of accommodation for these events, we are effectively looking at a grant of around €1200 for each federation.

The national champion of each federation (open and women separately) will be invited and they will have only their transportation costs to pay. In addition to those 54 free places for each championship (European Individual Chess Championship and European Individual Women Chess Championship), more players may, as before, participate at their own expense.

‘We R Europe’ Team aims to follow in the steps of football and increase the number of those invitations in the future. The strongest federations such as Russia and Ukraine may have several free places, as Spain, Italy and England have in football. The criteria for deciding the quota for additional free places will be developed and will be presented to the General Assembly of the European Chess Union.

Results:

  1. All 54 flags should be present in the European Individual Championships
  2. Organizers will have better chances of finding more sponsorship
  3. All national championships will be more attractive for their top players
  4. In future, stronger federations will have more free places
  5. The total number of participants in the EICC will be increased
  6. The status of the event will be raised

Our success in our federations is the guarantee of our promises.

Winning is a habit, Success is a choice
