The final event of the Moscow Blitz Chess Championship took place on 6th September, traditionally in the open air, in front of the VDNH House of Culture.

Invited Grandmasters and players qualified from five semifinal events formed the field of 20 participants.

In addition there were also final Moscow Blitz Championships for women, veterans and juniors.

Alexander Morozevich completely dominated the main event, scoring 15,5 points from 19 games and leaving the nearest followers 2,5 points behind.

Famous blitz specialist Boris Savchenko took the silver medal with 13 points after edging Vladimir Malakhov on tie-break, who claimed the bronze.

Valentina Gunina excelled in the championship among women where she took clear first place with 15 points from 17 games, half a point clear of Daria Charochkina. Aissa Imeeva is third with 11 points.
