Hi. Susan you are doing a great job in promoting chess. Very nice. good luck.
I like everything about you except your asking for opinions “Who’ll win before playing.” By the way, are you married?
Jassi
Susan, You are so beautiful and intelligent at the same time!
You are so beautiful and intelligent at the same time! congratulations… Namus.
Susan,
I respect you and like you for your going on contribution to chess not only as a player but also as a website organizer. You have advanced chess to a new level in the world. I am a proud fan of Polgar sisters and an admirer of your dad who declared a while ago that he is going to create geniuses. He was right. Hats off to him and your family.
However, I don’t like your new blog background where you seem to be bigger than chess. I just want to remind you that we love you because of your chess genius. I would love to see you as a child of chess not reverse.
With love from a loveing fan of yours,
Jassi
Susan I’ve had a “chess crush” on you since probably 2000….u are even hotter now! 🙂 <<<<<shameless flirting I know but I’m harmless 🙂
why is all this chatter required for people to explain chess games I believe in creativity by simplicity chess can be explained allot simpler than this to somebody that has at least 10,000+ games under their belt or a consistent rating of 1500+
I like your blog specially the tactics puzzle portion. I am giving you permission to get chess diagrams from my site which you can use as puzzles.
Susan,
Great chess site…………I check it everyday to keep with the latest chess news
Congratulations on your Final Four win. And I commend you on your decision to take the team to St. Louis as well. If Texas Tech doe not appreciate all you’ve done to bring high caliber chess to their campus, and won’t support that with funding and scholarships – they deserve to lose you.
Good luck to you in St. Louis!
We briefly spoke when you resided in New York over a decade ago. I, Neil Blonstein, am now the president of the Esperanto Society of New York City. I reread you bio, noted that you husband and partner is Vietnamese-born, so decided to remind you that the Universala Kongreso de Esperanto will occur in Hanoi, Vietnam, in the summer of 2012. I plan on being at both the adult and youth conferences. Best wishes with your relocation to Saint Luis, which I heard about on NPR today. The Esperanto Society of Saint Louis is active, and I hope after adjusting to your relocation, you’ll find time to have a brief meeting with local activists.
Hi nice to see you standing with a Queen!!!

Wow I was I could of accomplished a small percentage of what you have already done. What motivations you to accomplish so much?
Nice 😉
See what you think of this small poll application. It shows the differences in how elections turn out if people were able to vote using different mechanisms.
e.g., take a look at these two:
http://goo.gl/Aujqk – presidential
http://goo.gl/Hdmsv – prop 30/38
It’s just for fun.
When you need to create your next poll, please feel free to share/embed in your blog. It’s free as always. Will be interesting to see how people respond using this “ComparaPoll” method when you ask for the next Carlsen vs Aronian vs …
Cheers!

excellent blog for cHess players and others too…. more info… luv
Sorry to be a party pooper but 309/326 x 100 = 94.79% not 96.93%. Even if you included wins and draws that would be (309+3)/326 = 95.7%. To get 96.93% Susan would have had to have won 316 games out of 326, i.e. 99.93/100*326 = 315.99.
And while it is nevertheless a very impressive achievement, it is not as high a percentage as Capablanca’s Cleveland Ohio 1922 record of 103 games against the strongest players in the State, where he scored 102 wins, 0 losses and 1 draw, i.e. 103/103 * 100 = 99.03% (Hooper & Brandeth, “The Unknown Capablanca,” page 143).
So someone should tell the Guinness Book of Records that José Raúl Capablanca should hold The Highest Simultaneous [Chess] Winning Percentage of 99.03%.
Stephen E. Jones
Is math in Australia different than in other countries? 309 wins = 309 points. How do you get 3 points from 14 draws? 14 draws = 7 points. Thus 309+7=316. 316/326 = 96.93%. Polgar is correct. But even this % has been eclipsed by the next record holder. It is now 97%+. No one can confirm Capa’s record, nor they can confirm the level of competition. In order to have the record, game scores must be kept, and officials must be present. That’s Guinness’ rules.
>Thus 309+7=316. 316/326 = 96.93%.
Thanks for pointing out my error in a minor point.
And thanks for confirming my major point that Susan Polgar’s 96.93% includes draws.
But in that case, Capablanca’s Cleveland Ohio 1922 record of 103 games, where he scored 102 wins, 0 losses and 1 draw, would be 100%.
Your claim that “No one can confirm Capa’s record, nor they can confirm the level of competition” is false. Hooper and Brandreth did not just pluck the figures out of the air but would have based their scholarly work on still existing records in newspaper files, chess magazines, etc.
I wonder if Susan Polgar herself would so summarily dismiss Capablanca’s simultaneous achievements just because they were in the last century?
As for “to have the record, game scores must be kept, and officials must be present. That’s Guinness’ rules” then that makes it a SPECIAL CASE `world record’ for Polgar, not an OPEN world record, as Capablanca’s is.
