Can somebody identify the event and maybe the opponent as well…
myth!

Bobby Fischer playing chess. Now how rare would that be? 😛
Havana Olympiad 1966.
The game could be Uhlmann-Fischer, but not sure…
Wikipedia is in need of a good photo of Fischer that is free from copyright restrictions. Is there a way to contact the owner of the photo to ask if Wikipedia could have permission to use it?
Jud, give me a week or two to figure it out. I need this time because of the Passover holiday.
best wishes
A. Weiler
It is the Havana Olympiad 1st round match-game USA-Ecuador, 1st board Fischer-Yepez
White Yepez, Olavo
Black Fischer, Robert James

I don’t know the event, but, if I’m not mistaken, that table they are playing on is in the “World Chess Hall of Fame” near Miami Florida.
The picture I took when visiting looks shows it a lot better than this one:

Susan, what is rare about this picture? Bobby playing chess with the black pieces? Or replying with 1…Nf6 against 1.d4
Am I missing something here?
Soon probably, a picture of Tiger Woods clutching a golf club will be described as “rare” and will sell for millions perhaps.
Passover is here already? Where has the time gone!
Ramadan will be here before you know it!

Much nicer pieces and board than what the gms are using in every event these days. I doubt the gms give a damn though.
I thought the same thing about those pieces. There is a picture just below of Magnus playing with today’s standard pieces.
Can we get a link to some pieces like that?

Who are the bunch of idiots making fun of the rarity of this picture. What he’s doing in the picture is obviously not rare.
For all the 10 year olds who are posting anonymously, the fact this particular picture of this particular game has probably not been published publicly makes it rare…not what he’s doing in it…sheesh. I can’t believe I have to waste my time posting this to defend against the ridiculous trolls that are so interested in Ms. Polgars claim of rarity. Get a life!

We all feel sorry for you if you had a bad day or otherwise have problems with managing your own life.
But this is no reason to insult others who did no harm to you…
This is a chess-site and not a site to let steam off…better go to the nearest gym or join a local boxing club for this reason.

Not only the Pieces look nice. The chesstable looks like having marble squares…
obviously Cuba took the opportunity to promote its country so soon (1966) after the revolution (1959).
And don’t forget that Castro & Che Guevara were chess addicts BTW…
I like pie.
