This was my favorite game from the simul. It is White to move (I am White). My opponent is a 2300 player. How should White continue? (I will show the rest of the game in the comment area. If you want to figure it out first, do not look at the comment)

I love that 16 Ne5 move. that is so beautiful.
Great Game Susan.
16. Ne5! Qe7 (16… Nxe5 17. Bh5+ Ng6 18. Qxh7 +-)
Yep! I saw that one up to move 18. Just that i couldnt ‘guess’ on the 16…Qe7.
As analysis of variations is my weakest, I wonder if you would list down here your analysis ‘tree’ during the game?
hi – i saw 16 Ne5! and even the defence 16…. Qe7! but not 17 Bc4! )-:
my question to Susan is did you see the whole line before you played 16 Ne5! and how long did it take you (considering it was a simul) ?
She looks good in that photo (-:
actually after 16 …. qe7 my intended 17 Bh5+ seems to win as well:
17 …. Kd8 18. Nxd7 Kxd7 19 Bxf6 Qsomewhere 20 Qxh7+ +- and black’s king is too weak (-:
how did that crazy position arise
would be nice to see the whole game?
Yes, what a crazy position! I’m the one who suggested you get some sleep–and I was so sleepy myself that I didn’t even notice there were 4 queens on the board! How did that happen, in this middlegame position?!!!!
I know GM’s have great memory, but it’s impressive to remember the position & the conclusion of this game when it was only one of 35 played simultaneously.
I was at the simul. Black here had a “feeling” that going into this 4-queen variation wouldn’t be good for him, but then again, how often does one get a chance to go into this type of unusual position with a grandmaster? He couldn’t resist!
