A list of all 152 federations to participate in the Chess Olympiad 2008 can now be found under the menu item “Olympiad 2008” including their registered players.

Dresden mayor presents extensive Opening Ceremony of the Chess Olympiad – Evening of 12 November 2008 filled with attractions and stars
With tickets for only 9,90 Euro and 29,90 Euro chess enthusiasts and music fans can all together enjoy a fantastic show at the Freiberger Arena in Dresden on 12 November 2008. Mayor of the Saxon capital, Helma Orosz, introduced the extensive programme which is to launch the Chess Olympiad on site in a press conference at the venue last Friday, 12 September 2008, exactly two month prior to the opening event.
With top-act Max Mutzke (musician) as well as songster Zascha Moktan and the stars of the Dresden State Operetta the organizers will present a 90-minute show and following Welcome-Party featuring acts of the opening event and the tournament at the launch of the Chess Olympiad in November. For ticket holders these highlights will all be included. Further blowoffs are announced to be the Queen cover band MerQury, drummer and percussion specialists „Viroumania“, the symphony orchestra of the Heinrich Schütz conservatory and the “Apollo” laser show.
