I would try this:
1)Sac the d and f pawns.
2)Then walk the King along h7-g8-f7-e6-d7-c8-b7. By now the White Rook will be on d8, so it must check on b8. Black plays Kc6 to force Rxb6+.
3)Now walk the King back along d7-e8-f7-g6-h7. Now the White Rook should be on f6, forcing Rh6+.
4)Now with the b6 pawn gone, Black can safely take the White Rook: Rxh6#
1…d6 2.rxd6+ f6 3.rxf6+ kh7 4.rh6+ kg8 5.rh8+ kf7 6.rf8+ ke6 7.rf6+ kd7 8.rd6+ kc8 9.rd8+ kb7 10.rb8+ kc6 11.rxb6+ kd7 12.rd6+ ke8 13.rd8+ kf7 14.rf8+ kg6 15.rf6+ kh7 16.rh6+ [ 16.rxf2 ra1+ 17.rf1 kxf1#] 16…rxh6#
very nice!

I saw that, too. Just plugged in my free Chessbase Light, which did the job. No need to stress the brain. I didn’t have any fun doing it, though. Chess has become so boring with computers doing everything. Computers have spelled the death for chess. Soon it will be the same for humanity, if you saw the latest Sci-Fi movies.
@last anonym: so, the best is, not to use computers for solving puzzles, like i do … (permanent check puzzles are relatively easy to solve)… especially on a real 3-d board!)
good luck with your chess base light, but keep in mind: doing something at your own, is doing somthing for your own; you can not improve your chess by using computers for task operations!

This is the first poster again:
I did not use computers either. This problem did not require them. It just required some clever thinking. It took me about two minutes to solve.
I looked at this one for about 10 minutes and then decided to put it into Fritz just to see how confused Fritz gets. At first it said mate in 18. Then it thought a while and said mate in 19. Now it is up to mate in 20.
