I don’t think too many people were surprised that Anand won the World Championship in Mexico City. However, I think there were some unexpected results. What was the biggest surprise for you?
– Gelfand finishing tied for second?
– Aronian half point from last place?
– Grischuk surged in the first half?
– Kramnik actually lost a game?
– Anand not losing a single game?
– Something else?
– No scandal took place?
What is your take?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Gelfand!
I was not wondering he is a super stong playar.
It was a kind of new to me Gelfand had no unnecessary losses.
Could believe his preparation was excellent but mainly he had the right adjustment.
In opposite to…
Kramnik!
The old Champ played good, of course.
But I felt he was not able to go for win aginst Svidler and Grischuk; and understimated Gelfand.
The funny is that exactly a +2/+3 was predicted by his very best friend (Danilov, or what). This cool dude forecasted all; and that Anand will be the New Champ, too.
Well, Kramnik fighted only in the end. Only when it was about some 10T$ up or down.
I think his fans can be sad about it.
Aronian!
(I am a fan of his style)
He was sick.
And maybe to much other things to deal with during the competition.
Who knows.
Susan, big big thanks from Dortmund for your exciting reports about the WCC.
And…
yeah, do some chages on your blog.
Why not!?
Continue developing this site.
best wishes

It was a surprise to me no one accuses anyone of cheating.
The win of Zappa against Rybka was the biggest surprise. Everyone expected the opposite.
Why doesn’t anyone talk about the only important thing in Mexico – the $ purse? Don’t be afraid to!?
It was a surprise to me no one accuses anyone of cheating.

Why a surprise? Troublemakerov wasn’t there. Most other players are better behaved.
how about Svidler loosing his last place in the last round!!! he was the leader for 13 consecutive rounds,,,
jb. the biggest surprise was undoubtedly susan, shes much more pretty in person than in pixels!!!
and nicer too…
– Gelfand finishing tied for second?
Yes, clear surprise
– Aronian half point from last place?
Probably the #1 surprise. He was sick, and it indeed affected to the quality of chess, but finishing 7th?
– Grischuk surged in the first half?
Not a surprise
– Kramnik actually lost a game?
To Morozevich! Not surprised.
– Anand not losing a single game?
This is probably a surprise. Kramnik’s strategy was based to activate at the end, probably he was thinking Anand losing a game.
– No scandal took place?
Not surprised. It was expected that there will be no scandal, all players respect each other and many of them are actual friends.
