It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved 12 year-old son, Sean Christian Reader of Valencia California . Sean peacefully went to heaven on Monday, August 14, 2006 , after a very lengthy and courageous battle with leukemia at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Services will take place Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the Eternal Valley Chapel on the Hill 23287 North Sierra Highway, Newhall, CA 91321

Sean’s determination and dedication was seen throughout his life. We saw it in the way he played chess, in the way he focused on his work at Meadows Elementary School and in the way he fought this relentless illness. The doctors and nurses openly mourned the loss of the boy they called “a champion and a warrior.”

He excelled in chess, capturing the title of 2005 Western States 6 th Grade Champion. Only days after being diagnosed with leukemia Sean lead the Meadows Elementary team to 2nd place at the Nationals in Nashville Tennessee.

I met this young man in Nashville a few years ago. He’s amazing! A true warrior! He really loved chess and a he’s true team player! I really admired his determination and passion for the game. Thank you Sean! Your passion for chess motivates me to do more for all children! You will never be forgotten!

My deepest condolences to his family.
