Nxc5+ and wins in both variations.
Nc5 Whack the Jack
A little harder than the 2 move mate from last night, but not by much.
1. Nc5 Rc5 (dc5 2.Bd5 Kd6 3.Nf5#)
2. Bd5 Rd5 (only move)
3. cd5#
1.Nxc5+!!
(a)1…Rxc5 2.Bd5+ Rxd5 3.cxd5#
(b)1…dxc5 2.Bd5+ Kd6 3.Nf5#
Oh, this one is a cute one! Actually, the first move was fairly simple and I arrived at it (and it was the last combination I thought of) by a process of elimination since every other move loses for white.
1.Nxc5+ RxN (1…PxN 2.Bd5 mate)
2.Bxd5+ RxN
3.pxR mate.
How about 1, Nxc5+. If 1… dxc5 then Bd5+. If 1…Rxc5 then 2. Bd5+ Rxd5 3. czd5+
Nxc5+ dxc5
Bxd5+ Kd6
Nf5++
Nxc5+ Rxc5
Bxd5+ Rxd5
cxd5++
can we get some hard problems on here..that was an amateur problem..
Nxc5+
Nxc5+!!… Bd5+… cxd5#
NXc5 +, neither RXc5 nor dXc5 will help the Black.
1. Nxc5+ dxc5
2. Bd5+ Kd6
3. Nf5#
or
1. Nxc5+ Rxc5
2. Bd5+ Rxd5
3. cxd5#
1.Nc5+!
Black could either reply with 1…Rxc5 which will be countered by 2.Bd5+ Rd5 and 3. cxd5++
or black could opt for 1…dxc5
2.Bd5+ Kc6 3. Nf5++
Thanks,
Henry
