New membership of the Topalov-Kramnik Match Appeals Committee.
Appointment of the FIDE Observer for the Topalov-Kramnik Appeals Committee.
FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov appointed new Appeals Committee members.
Chairman: Continental President for the Americas, Mr. Jorge Vega
Member: Continental President for Europe, Mr. Boris Kutin
Member: Delegate of Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Mr. Faik Gasanov
Deputy President, Mr. Georgios Makropoulos is appointed as the FIDE Observer for the 2006 World Chess Championship match V. Topalov – V. Kramnik.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I wonder what Makropoulos will “observe”. I thought we were rid of him.
Again two (or three?) FIDE associates. Kramnik will be pleased by the improvement (not).
Whatever happened to the good-old ‘both players pick their favourites from a list’ system? Is that deemed obsolete by Kirsan like matches are?
Marvol
Strange new comittee. Jorge Vega was on the previous appeals commitee and Boris Kutin reputation is on par with that of Azmai and Makro.
Faik Gasanov I do not know.

I just wonder how this committee could ever unpartially deal with Kramnik’s protest over the decisions of the previous committee. Part of the members are going to investigate their own doings. Interesting…
If “these” are the most honnest, fairlier, versed ones fide can find…
There would be a big shadow that is arising on that match…
So, their demissions was not the consequences of their stupids decisions(what everybody would find just and normal), but nothing all that something to fit kramnik demands and save the match…for their views…
Hypocrism of fide is beyond everything …
I’m kidding: ” make a prier for this saints my friends! they ‘ve saved the match they are heroes!!”
Dcax, ….
Interesting choice.
Vega is already compromized as the member of previous AC.
Gasanov represents Azerbajzan and can be easily considered under outside pressure/influence (many in FIDE and Azerbajan should be interested in getting their share of the now questionable Topalov-Rajabov megabuck).
Kutin is a close friend of Kirsan.
Corruption still rules. And as shameless as ever.
Neither of which is news.
My questions are still unanswered:
1. “Why accusing mr.topalov of cheating is moral while accusing mr.kramnik of cheating isn’t?”
2. “Why placing that screen after mr kramnik’s team recommendation, thus changing the contract, is acceptable while forcing both players to use a common bathroom, changing the contract, is unnacceptable?”
3. “Why mr kramnik’s refusal to play game 5 because of the aforementioned change of contractual rules is regarded as a professional move while mr topalov’s acceptance to play regardless of the aforementioned change in the contractual rules is left uncommented?”
4. (and the most important in my opinion) Can you see the difference between 1. mr. korchnoi’s reaction in Baguio in 1978 when he was playing against half of the world, but continued to fight, 2. mr bondarevsky’s reaction in his match against bothvinik when his father was threatened to be sent to syberia and continued to fight, 3. mr kasparov’s reaction during the match with deep blue when the machine crashed and rebooted just before making n extra-ordinary non-computer-like move in game 2 and finally 4. today’s challengers that fight over a toilet???
Will all PLEASE stop whining about everything!!
PLEASE, PLEASE.
Take some chess lessons, learn to play chess, then comment about the game moves instead.
Makropoulos will observe those in the audience that he wishes to have his next affair with. A former Women’s World Champion wasn’t good enough and thrown to the wayside, now he’s going to see what else he can find.
If Kramnik wins it will be win of humanity and civilisation over the devils in the world!Animals with huaman face:Mongol-Tatars;Otoman-Persians;Hun(mongol product)-gars;Vul(oficialy Bul but they are combination of the first 2)-gars and Fins(mongol product). All of this (excluding Fins and Huns partly) is part of Topalovs d.n.a. but nothing more.Just that.
His second name “topal”-ov in otoman turkish language means tree. The “topal” tree was used from otomans before 700-200 years to make “slave punisher” with which they hit and “punish” the slaves and other people under their ocupation. So Topal-ov is so proud to “punish” the civilised people. He once explained partly his second name and was sooo proud of his second name and he say that “topal” in otoman-turkish means something like tall man because it is “tall” tree in that language.?????????????????????????
I will question to evryone why the chess players from Bul-garia and Hun-garia are allways overagresive?
Example:Pol-gar(Jud(a)-it);Topal-ov and Fischer(Nemenyi/Wender betwin Ulaanbaatar and Tel Aviv).Leko is from Subotica(Serbia)and maybe he is not so mongolish.Allso in other sports they are garbege.Bulgarians breaked the lags of “PELE” at one soccer world cup for 50$.
For me it is completly clear what is hapening and why.Can you civilise some wolf or hiena? No it is only posible man to be civilised and no any other animal what ever it look like.Even some birds can speak like humans but they are not humans!
Evryone is free to make decision what kind of evolution he likes to accept!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shut up you fucking fascist piece of shit
No racistic comments, please.
Dear trandism,
1. Kramnik never acused Topalov as cheater.
2. The screen was placed before the match began in accordance to rules accepted by both players before the match began.
3. Because Kramnik had shown bride and honor while Topalov had shown happy smile when he got a full point thanks to his dirty tricks and Danailov’s direct lie and baseless accusations.
4. No difference. Because Kramnik continues to fight and he already won even if he loses the match. And Topalov have already lost. Even if he wins by 5 points, his superiority will not be accepted, because a vast majority will say that he won by throwing shit on the opponent off the board. But I doubt he can manage to win a single game OTB in this match.
“Yesterday I said that we need a hero for this match to continue,” said Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, president of the World Chess Federation, known by its French acronym, FIDE. “Veselin (Topalov) would have become a hero if he agreed to a 3-1 score … Now we all can call Vladimir (Kramnik) a true hero.”
Kirsan Ilumzhinov.

Tommorow,Topalov will still have the opportunity to beheave like the champion he is:
-giving his accord to play the 5th game,
-and after, or long after as he will, by firing danailov.
That would be good class from him.
Dcax, dream sweet dream… ;o)
I am mad as hell about the fiasco at the World Championships. Here is what should be done, at a minimum.
1. the Appeals panel made the correct decision to resign. Their decison regarding the bathrooms ignored the contract terms for the match, was in indisputably in excess of their authority, and established their incompetence. The new panel should have impeccable credentials.
2. Tapolav must waive the victory “earned” by forfeit to salvage his reputation, and must terminate his manager, who has not apologized for his attack on Kramnik, for the honor of the sport. Topolav would be wise to apologize for the conduct of his manager, or at lease, distance himself from the commnets by an expression of regrets.
3. FIDE should appoint an independent commmissioner to oversee the matches, so further incidents can be dealt with in a professional manner.
4. Topolav’s manager should be censured publicly (and fined, if possible), and regulations should be enacted to discourage disgraceful, libelous statements being made about a competitor during a match.
Why do GMs not walk away when FIDE is harsh to them? It seems there is always a GM that gets hurt by FIDE.
Kasparow did…
If a ‘contract decided before the match’ turns out to provide someone with unlimited opportunity to cheat, then the conditions must be changed. Either a better monitored toilet, or an arbiter’s instruction not to use it so frequently or without permission.
The contract does not prohibit any modification when suspcious circumstances arise.
The new Appeals Committee? It looks OK. Better (more objective) than a Lautier + Seirawan + some other GMA/ACP type committee would be.
Vlad Kosulin said…
1. “Kramnik never acused Topalov as cheater.” – No, he delegated this to Dolmatov and Barsky or they felt the call of the Motherland. By the way neither did Topalov.
2. “The screen was placed before the match began in accordance to rules accepted by both players before the match began.” – Can you imagine the accusations if Topalov had refused to play with the screen because of his dignity. This would have been admission of guilt. Or if the roles in the toilet fiasco were reversed and Topalov refused to use a common toilet.
3. “Because Kramnik had shown bride and honor while Topalov had shown happy smile when he got a full point thanks to his dirty tricks and Danailov’s direct lie and baseless accusations.” – Kramnik was impressive (except for his tears over the toilet, but it worked well). Topalov’s smirk may or may not be over the point, I don’t know. Danailov was the worst in this wonderful play. Astonishingly impudent, incompetent and undiplomatic. I wish Topalov finds the strength to run away from him like Kamsky did. Was there reason for suspicion? I haven’t seen the videos, but I haven’t seen a reasonable explanation for the dozens of visits to the washroom either.
4. “No difference. Because Kramnik continues to fight and he already won even if he loses the match. And Topalov have already lost. Even if he wins by 5 points, his superiority will not be accepted, because a vast majority will say that he won by throwing shit on the opponent off the board.” disagree over “No difference”, but about the rest you are correct.
William Miller,
Just what are the disgraceful libellous statements?
That going to the toilet so many times is suspicious? That it gives an opportunity to cheat? That it is distracting, unsportsmanlike and deliberately provocative?
Maybe you don’t know what libel actually means.
