Chess group, district to sponsor championship

The Green Bay Chess Association and the Green Bay School District will sponsor the 12th annual Green Bay Scholastic Chess Championship Saturday at Franklin Middle School, 1234 W. Mason St.
Registration is from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. with an award ceremony around 2 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place winners in each level and all students will receive certificates.
The cost is free for Green Bay School District students and $8 for others. The tournament is open to students in grades 3 to 8.
