According to my calculation, 9 players tied for first at the World Open. They are:
GMs Nakamura, Chanda, Stripunsky, Mikhalevski, Becerra, Yudasin, Akobian, Najer and Shabalov. All players with 6 points after 8 rounds drew the last round. Shabalov defeated Perelshteyn in the last round to catch up with the leaders.

This shows true class. Even after Goichberg insulted, attacked and lied about you to thousands of USCF members for personal financial benefits, you still post about his tournament. I hope others can learn from this lesson.
Too many draws in the last round, even Nakamura.
I also agree that this is a classy post by Susan. It shows that she has the best interest of chess at heart, unlike Bill Goichberg who has his wallet at heart. I find his post cards and postings despicable.
I used to think Goichberg was OK. I have even gone to his World Open and other big money tournaments many times. But now I have taken the pledge of total abstanence.
I will never enter a Goichberg tournament ever again. I will not spend my money to help Goichberg make more money.
I probably voted for him. I will never vote for him again.
The World Open this year, I did not even notice it was being played.
I won’t play in any CCA event until Goichberg is off the board or man enough to apologize for his deplorable conducts. In the past few months, he clearly showed his true colors. It was never about the best interest of the USCF. Everything has always been in his best interest. He used insider info to outbid other organizers. This is illegal and unethical. But he’s allowed to do this because of his goonies like Schultz.
I’m quite upset when I got his post card. It’s sickening. I expect things like this from Sam Sloan but never Goichberg.
Sounds like all the GMs got together in the last round and planned all these short draws. They should all be given a 0-point forfeiture in the last round. It is disgraceful to chess.
Can you please correct the heading for this as: 9 tied for the first place in World Open? Why do yourefer to the event as: PA?
