4th Mohamed Slama Memorial – Photo Report
The 4th edition of Mohamed Slama Memorial is in progress at the luxurious Hotel Monastir Center****, situated in the center of the splendid touristic city of Monastir, Tunisia and adjoining a beautiful sandy beach.
The Festival is organized by Chess Club La Tour Blanche – Ksibet El Mediouni in a 9-round Swiss format. The hefty prize fund in the amount of 10.000 $ is provided by the official tournament sponsor Slama Brothers Group.
220 players from 15 different countries (Algeria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Libya, Lebanon, Netherlands, Romania, Russia and Tunisia) take part in the Chess Festival, including 5 GMs, 8 IMs, 9 FMs, 1 WGM and 2 WIMs. The participants are split into three tournaments – Open A (for players rated over 2099), Open B (for players below 2100) and Youth Tournament (for participants under 12 y.o.), more information here
The organizers provide wonderful opportunity to explore Tunisia with different side activities, such as excursions to popular Tunisian destinations, boat-trips, Folklore parties, etc. Enjoy the photo report below!
