3rd Chennai International Open Chess Tournament

The 3rd Chennai International Open Chess Tournament will take place from 17th to 26th January 2011 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Multipurpose indoor stadium, in Chennai, India. The tournament is organised by Sports Promotion Foundation, Under the guidance of Tamilnadu State Chess Association and All India Chess Federation.

There will be a discount of 15% of entry fees ( other than Tamilnadu Players ) for those who remit their entry fees on or before 07.12.2010.

Entries with late fee of Rs. 500 1st to 10th January 2011

Please note that this entry fee structure is valid only until 31st December 2010. Entries will also be accepted at the venue till 15:00 Hrs. on 17th January 2011 with a late fee of Rs. 1,000/-. No request towards waiver of entry fee or waiver of late fee will be entertained.

Registration:
AICF registration fee for 2010-11 is compulsory for all Indian participants. The registration fee of Rs. 250/- will be accepted at the venue for the convenience of the players.

Accommodation:
All participants will be provided free accommodation (other than Tamilnadu players). The accompanying persons will have to bear their own expenses.

Weather:
The weather in Tamilnadu during January is expected to be pleasant.

System of Play:
The tournament will be conducted as per FIDE Laws of Chess and FIDE Swiss System with 11 rounds. Subject to approval of FIDE, Accelerated pairings will be employed for first two rounds of the event to increase norm chances of players.

Tie Break:
In case of a tie, the latest FIDE Rules shall come in to effect. The Cash prizes however will be shared.
