3rd ACP World Rapid Cup

The 3rd ACP World Rapid Cup will be organised by the Pivdenny Bank in Odessa, Ukraine 22nd-24th May 2009. The venue will be the Odessa National Academy of Law.

As usual, it will be a KO tournament with 16 participants. There will be two-game matches at all stages, prior to the final. In the final, four games will be played. The time control will be 20 minutes per game with an increment of 5 seconds per move.

In accordance with the rules of the Association of Chess Professionals (www.chess-players.org), 13 of 16 spots are given to the players who qualified from the ACP Tour 2007/08.

22 May: 1/8 final matches from 12:00; 14:30; 17:00; 19:30
23 May: 1/4 final matches from 12:00; 14:30
23 May: 1/2 final matches from 18:00
24 May: Final from 12:00

The local time is GMT +3.

The prize fund is USD $57,000. The winner receives USD $10,000. There will be a special prize, named after the Odessa IM Mikhail Podgaets who passed away on 14 May 2009.
