Gelfand had a bad tournament up to 8 rounds. But he played the spoiler role by beating the tournament leader Mamedyarov in the final round. This sets up a big tie at the top of the leader board. Grischuk gambled and pushed hard for a win against Nakamura in the final round. However, his opponent played well to obtain a winning position. A blunder on move 84 was costly for Nakamura as he could have tied for 1st.
