The Armenian Chess Federation organized the 8th Karen Asrian Memorial Open Tournament on June 15-25, 2015, in the prominent resort town of Jermuk.

The international event was dedicated to the memory of GM Karen Asrian, who passed away in June 2008, at the age of 28. He was member of the Armenian national team which won the first gold medal at the 2006 Chess Olympiad in Turin.

The tournament was a 9-round Swiss tournament with hefty prize fund in total of 22,500 US dollars.

GM Mykhaylo Oleksiyenko from Ukraine, his countrymen GM Anton Korobov and Armenian GM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan emerged joint winners with 7/9 points, leaving the nearest followers half a point behind.

Oleksiyenko took the gold on a superior tie-break score, while Korobov remained second.
