The 15th Open Internazionale Città di Padova was held on 16-23rd December at Fornace Carotta in Padova, Italy.

50 players competed in the main 9-round Swiss event, while 68 took part in the 6-round weekend tournament.

Russian Grandmaster Vladimir Burmakin and Italian International Master Roberto Mogranzini shared the first place in the main tournament with 7,0/9 points each.

Burmakin had a full point lead after the penultimate round but then he lost to GM Joseph Sanchez from Philippines. Meanwhile Mogranzini defeated fellow Italian GM Daniele Vocaturo to claim his final Grandmaster norm.

Final standings:

1-2. GM Burmakin Vladimir 2558 and IM Mogranzini Roberto 2489 – 7.0
3-4. GM Solodovnichenko Yuri 2557 and GM Sanchez Joseph 2533 – 6.5
5-8. GM Lazic Miroljub 2471 and IM Dvirnyy Daniyyl 2537, GM Petkov Vladimir 2567 and GM Naumkin Igor 2500 – 6.0
9-14. IM Laketic Gojko 2425, GM Kasparov Sergey 2475, GM Shishkin Vadim 2501, IM Collutiis Duilio 2495, GM Vocaturo Daniele 2521 and FM Del Monaco Andrea 2247 – 5.5 etc 

In the weekend tournament IM Andjelko Dragojlovic finished clear first with 5,5/6 points to take the first prize of 600 EUR.
