Two new members of the 2800 club were inducted this week.

Anish Giri’s defeat of Peter Svidler at Tbilisi and Hikaru Nakamura’s canny demolition of Sergey Karjakin at Zurich propelled them both into the elite group of players that have held a rating of over 2800.

In both cases, the new ratings are from the live list.

To join the official FIDE list at over 2800, they both need to avoid the loss of points before February 28.
