TELIN International Chess Tournament
Nine-round open on 1st-7th April 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia

Telkom Indonesia together with Indonesian Chess Federation is holding the TELIN International Chess Tournament 2011 on 1st-7th April in Jakarta, Indonesia. The playing venue is the Graha Citra Caraka PT Telkom. The tournament format is nine-round Swiss with the time control 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment.

110 players from seven nations compete, among them nine Grandmasters and two Women Grandmasters. All top Indonesian players entered the field, including the legendary Grandmasters Herman Suradiradja and H Ardiansyah coming out from the retirement.

Guests from abroad are GM Merab Gagunashvili GEO 2599, GM Zhang Zhong SIN 2592, GM Dao Thien Hai VIE 2507, GM Eugenio Torre PHI 2495, GM Dibyendu Barua IND 2468 and WGM Anastasya Karlovich UKR 2204.

Local hopes are focused on GM Susanto Megaranto 2533, IM Denny Juswanto 2451, GM Cerdas Barus 2443, IM Ronny Gunawan 2420, IM Dede Liu 2418, IM Sadikin Irwanto 2417 and WGM Irene Kharisma Sukandar 2354.

Indonesian Chess Association (Percasi) deputy chief Grandmaster Utut Adianto expected more companies would begin supporting chess development in the country. “Hopefully, more companies nationwide would follow what Telin is doing in developing sports in the country,” Utut said in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post.

The prize fund is 25250 USD.
