1st Roseto International Chess Festival

The 1st Roseto International Festival is currently taking place (4th – 12th June) at the “Villaggio di Abruzzo” in Roseto degli Abruzzi, on the Adriatic coast in central Italy.

During the tournament, the Circolo Arrocco chess club from Rome and the Scacchierando.net Blog will be holding two coaching lectures conducted by world famous Grandmasters Evgeny Sveshnikov and Oleg Romanishin, who are also taking part in the tournament. The lectures are free and open for everyone.

In the 1st Roseto International Festival GM Vladimir Epishin from Russia is the top seed, while IM Axel Rombaldoni is the top rated Italian player.

After six rounds GM Oleg Romanishin is leading with 5.5 points, a full point ahead of International Masters Marholev, Rombaldoni and Vuelban. Yesterday he won with black against Serbian IM Misa Pap concluding with a strong attack.

Alessandro Bove from Rome, a young Italian Fide Master, is having an awesome performance of nearly 2600 elo. In round six he won against GM Arkadij Rotstein, and earlier he beat GM Evgeny Sveshnikov and drew with GM Vladimir Epishin!
