The 1st International Livigno Chess Open is set to take place on 10-18th September 2010 in Livigno, Italian Alps. Three tournaments are being organized: OPEN A for players with FIDE/FSI above 2000, OPEN B (between 1600 and 1999) and OPEN C (below 1599). For all three the time control is 40 moves in 90 minutes and 30 minutes to finish with an increment of 30 seconds per move.

It will certainly be one of the Europe’s “highest” chess meetings, as it takes place in Livigno, a village situated on the Italian Alps between 1,800 and 2,200 meters (5,900 and 6,900 feet respectively) above sea level.

A beautiful green valley surrounded by marvelous mountains will be the breath-taking view which everybody will be able to enjoy between the games, while shopping or walking on paths immersed in nature and pure air.

The local chess association has done its best to prepare a memorable first edition. Besides, there is a total prize fund of 9,000 Euro, plus prestigious gifts offered by the sponsors, such as the grappa producer Mazzetti, or Baume & Mercier.
