FIDE Online Arena has just announced the regulations of the 1st FIDE World Online Amateur Blitz Championship and the 1st FIDE World Online Junior Blitz Championship.

For each competition a total prize fund of 4250 USD will be distributed to the winners. Both Championships consist of a qualifying phase, a semi-final and a final tournament. Qualifying tournaments will be held on Thursdays from April 9th, 2015 (Amateur 1) to August 20th, 2015 (Junior 8).

Qualifying tournaments are 9 to 11 round Swiss tournaments (depending on the number of participants) and the time control is 3m+2s.

The final tournament will be a 16 player round robin with the same time control.

Participation is open to all players with a FIDE membership, including those registered using the free promotional offer valid until May 31st, 2015, provided they meet the rating and age requirements in the regulations. The entry fee for each event is 10 euros and allows participation in all qualifying tournaments. Players with a valid Platinum membership are exempt from the entry fee.

In the coming weeks FIDE will publish the regulations for the 1st FIDE World Online Women Blitz Championship, as well as the Qualifier Tournaments for three places for the upcoming FIDE World Cup, which takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in September.
