Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Magnus is amazing!
cool magnus.. That makes you the tournament WC..
62 points between the World #1 and the Fide WCC. Something definately wierd is going on here. As Much as I respect Magnus..he certainly does not handle the world Champ like he’s 62 points higher. Something is screwed with the ratings system. Carlsen inches his way up in tourneys..and Anand is probably a spent force..but in a match..well….I only have to point out Botvinik. Although I respect Mr Regans ratings calculations etc..I really have to wonder about this. It’s not quite..um..zen. Kasparov got his rating due to volumes of opening analisys that nobody else had and he got it by beating 2500 and 2600 players..Carlsen is beating 2700 and 2800 players..there is a difference. It’s interesting to watch. Players today are much more wel informed and Kasparovs arguents that Fischer would have had a hard time against Karpov are well taken..but the you need to apply this to todays circumstances.the Kasparov who has the record for now..would be hard pressed to get that rating against this well informed crop of GM”S. What goes around..comes around.
I still think Kramnik and Anand are the most dangerous active players on the planet.
Carlsen is a little shaky and Aronian just doesn’t seem to have that killer instinct.
Just my opinion.
