The “3ème Grand Prix du Président de la République“: the supremacy of “Sergeys”

The “3ème Grand Prix du Président de la République” was held from 22 to 28 February 2015 at the Cultural Center “The historical” with the participation of the grandmasters from the Netherlands, Russia, Serbia and Uzbekistan.

GM Sergey Volkov won the tournament with 7.5 points, which defy the last round Adlane Arab IM followed by GM Sergei Tiviakov with 7 points who draw at the last round with GM Alexei Barsov. The revelation of the tournament was IM Saad Belouadah who won with 7 point in the last round against GM Mohamed Haddouche. The prize of the Best women returned to WIM Amira Hamza and Best – 16 returned to CM Nassr Ahmed.

This tournament with 90mn + 30s/moves time control was attended by 54 players including the Algerian national team and was a good preparation for the African zonal 4.1, which will take place in Tunisia from March 25 to April 1. The Chief Arbiter was IA Nasreddine Announ and Arbiter’s Assistants were IA Fetsah Ouaret and FA Lerari Said, FA Mohamed Sofiane Harir and National Arbiter Najeeb Hadou

The prize distribution and awards ceremony was conducted by Samir Zerdali, the President of Algerian Chess Federation.
