The 2nd International Chess Tournament Memory of “Nebesna sotnya” is taking place on 21-22nd February, 2015, in Lutsk, a city in northwestern Ukraine.

The event was split into two separate tournaments – 11-round Swiss rapid open with time control 20′ + 5″ and 22-round blitz tournament with tempo of play 3′ + 2″.

195 players from 6 different countries participated in the rapid section, including 13 GMs, 2 WGMs, 16 IMs, 3 WIMs, 8 FMs and 2 WFMs.

Ukrainian GM Vladimir Onischuk emerged a clear winner with 9,5/11 points, leaving his compatriot, the runner-up IM Olexandr Bortnyk, half a point behind.

Third place was shared in a four-way tie by GM Kirill Stupak from Belarus, GM Igor Kovalenko from Latvia and Ukrainian GMs Alexander Kovchan and Vitaliy Bernadskiy on 8,5 points each, but Stupak prevailed on a superior tie-break score and took the bronze.

Latvian GM Igor Kovalenko stormed through the blitz event and lifted the title with 19,5/22 points.

GM Vladimir Onischuk finished second with 18,5/22, while IM Olexandr Bortnyk remained third with 18/22, leaving the nearest followers 2,5 points behind!
