  I don’t have a lot a time for this, but I would consider 1.Re8 followed by the 2.Rxf8- the point being that 3.Qd8 comes will all sorts of threats from white, most particularly the ideas of Qd6 with check and a later push of the d-pawn.

  If 2…. Qxe8; then 3. Qxh6 and Black cannot defend the threats of mate with Qg7 or Qh8.

  If 2…. Qxe4; then 3. Qxh6 and Black cannot defend the threats of mate with Rxf8, Qg7 or Qh8.

  If 2…. Bf5; 3. Bxf5, Qxf5; then 4. Qxh6 with the same results.

  First things first- 1.Be4 is not the best move here since black can block with Bf5 (and remember, white is down a rook at the start here):

  1. Be4? Bf5! (Rf5 2.g4!+-)
  2. Re6! Be4!
  3. Rg6 Bg6
  4. Qh6 Bh7 (only saving move)
  5. Qd6 and I am not sure who is best here- unclear in my eye.

  Like aam@fics, I was enamored of 1.Re8 Rf8 2.Rxf8, but I now agree with Knyt4k- 2.Be4 looks better to me, though I think both win for white.
