The Italian Rapid Chess Championships 2013 were held on 12-14th April 2013 in Fano, on the Eastern coast of Italy.

The format was three Championships spread over three days, each offering prizes and titles for the absolute winner, the victors of each category, as well as the best U16 and female players.

Day 1 was the “Rapid 30 minute” tournament (seven rounds), day 2 was for “Blitz 5 minute” (11 rounds) and finally the “Rapid 15 minute” (9 rounds) on the last day.

The total prize fund was €18,000, divided into €5000, €6000 and €7000 for the respective days. There was also a painting (40cm x 50cm) by the internationally respected artist Fathi Hassan, worth €4500, for the winner of the final day.

“Fano Chess Club 1988″ celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2013 and Dario Pedini organized last three Italian Rapid Championships (2011-2012-2013), with 450 players, 8 GM and 11 IM.

The playing venue was Pala-J, a covered outdoor area inside the stunning seaside port, home to a range of vessels including yachts and sail boats; offering spectators a unique and dramatic backdrop to the competition itself.

The event was organized by members of the “Fano Chess Club 1988″, in collaboration with the staff of International Caesar Port – Marina dei Cesari.
