CHENNAI: There are some records in chess which are beyond the scope of verification. The most glaring of them is the record for the youngest rated player in the world.

Harikrishnan of Chennai – a seven-years, three-month old second standard student – has become the youngest rated player in the country.

Harikrishnan, a student of Sethu Bhaskara Matriculation School, Ambattur (Chennai) has an Elo rating of 1519 in the January 2009 list, according to a Tamil Nadu Chess Association release.
