Vietnam goes to Asian Chess Championship (Sports)

HANOI, Dec. 25 -– Top Vietnamese chess players have been sent to compete in the Asian Chess Champions League in the United Arab Emirates.

Vietnam’s four-member squad includes Grand Masters Dao Thien Hai, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Nguyen Anh Dung and Nguyen Van Huy who will face opponents from 20 different teams, said the Vietnam Chess Federation.

The tournament winner will take home 20,000 USD, while the runner-up and third place pocket 12,000 USD and 8,000 USD, respectively.

The event will finish on Jan. 1, 2009. (PNA/VNA)
