Invitation for the International Youth Camp during the Chess Olympiad in Dresden

Dear Sir or Madam,

This year the Chess Olympiad takes place in Germany and for the first time in history of this most significant event an International Youth Camp will parallel be hosted, and therefore the German Chess Youth invites young people from all over the world to Dresden. The Chess Olympiad, one of the greatest sport events with 140 nations participating in it, sets a very good example, that sport has no boundaries and so the International Youth Camp follows the idea to encourage international understanding between people with different cultural background – Wir spielen eine Sprache.

The German Chess Youth will give 3 young people of your federation the opportunity to come to Dresden from 15 to 22 of November 2008. They will get acquainted to different cultures and people from all parts of the world, and in a diversified and amazing special programme we want to show them the world-famous city of Dresden with its historic buildings and places, will visit the capital city of Germany, Berlin, and also give the possibility to match with each other in varying sports. But of course the focus is on the Chess Olympiad and so each participant has free admission to the International Congress Centre in Dresden, the venue of the event, during the stay.

A team of professional youth coaches of the German Chess Youth will stay all along and will take care of the youngsters, not only during the free-time-programme, and will answer all their questions over and above.

Chess players between 16 and 20 years of age are invited to the International Youth Camp. It is not important to us, that they are especially good at the game of chess; more than this, it is important, that they are curious about other people, creative and politically interested, and that they can understand and speak English.

The expenses for accommodation and board and the complete free-time-programme will be covered by the German Chess Youth. You only have to pay for travel expenses. The participants will stay at A&O Hostel in Dresden and will have an insurance on our account during their stay in Germany.

The German Chess Youth would be delighted if your federation takes part in the International Youth Camp. If this is the case, please contact the main office of the German Chess Youth until 30 of September 2008 and send the application of your participants with name, address and Email. After getting all applications, the participants will get more and detailed information directly from the German Chess Youth. Please do not hesitate to contact them also in case of any question.
