FIDE to help Vietnam build chess institute
World Chess Federation (FIDE) has assured the Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC) of a project to build a 5,000 ha chess institute in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
The promise was made by FIDE General Secretary Ignatius Leong during his meeting with VOC President Nguyen Danh Thai on January 22.
Leong said he expected that the 1 million project will kick off shortly after Vietnam hosts the world junior chess championships scheduled for October this year. (VNA)
