‘Make Chess an Olympic sport’

After winning the Padma Vibhushan, Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand speaks exclusively to TIMES NOW and categorically said that he wants chess to be included in the Olympics. In his first tournament of the year, World Champion Viswanathan Anand will face tournament leader Magnus Carlsen in the 11th round of the Group ‘A’ of Corus International Chess tournament. And just ahead of his match, in a free-wheeling chat, Anand spoke to TIMES NOW on host of issues.

Talking about inclusion of chess in Olympics, Anand said:”If chess is accepted in Olympics, it will be great for this sport across the globe,” further adding “It would also augment the popularity of the sport in various countries.”
