I think e6 threatening to follow up w/ Qd4 will either win the game or a lot of material.
This is very complex and a simple moves suggestion does not solve the problem.
Flanary has a fine move, Anonymous says it’s not enough. True. Let’s take flanary’s suggestion and try to elaborate. I think this is Black’s best play:
1 e6 Qc7
2 Qd4+ f6
3 fxg hxg
4 Bxg6
Black is toast, no?
Mark
1 e6.
If 1.___ Qc7, then 2.eXf followed by 3.Qd4+ wins easily.
If 1.___pXp, then 2.Qd4+.
maybe I was too hasty to post the e6. It looks right but even after mark’s variation I don’t see the convincing toasting that would constitute a solution. Mostly because:
1.e6 Qd6
—if 2.Qd4+ f6 and continues as in mark’s post which I don’t think is it either.
2exf7 Rd8 and then what? Black has enough material to trade a rook and a pawn for a pawn and a bishop…
So maybe e6 isn’t it. With as much material as black has there has to be a better solution.
Sorry for the shorter original posting. I thought it was a discussion not just post the answer:)
A few variations after the Qd6 reply:
1. e6 Qd6
2. Qd4+ f6
3. fxg6 and now:
3… hxg6
4. Qh4! Kg8
5. Bxg6 Qxe6
6. Bf4 and mate will follow soon
3… Qxe6
4. Ng5
3… Qg3
4. Bf4
3… Qc7
4. Qh4 Bf8
5. g7+ Bxg7
6. Bf4!
First Qd4 then the fun ie
Qd4 Qd8
f6 Bf8
Qh4 BxBh6??? what else
Qxh6 Rg8
Ng5 Rg7
Qg7mate
