QC7
1 Qc7
Olimat
deflect the queen away from the rook…
only move I spot that does that is bishop G5
1. Qc7!
Short and sweet. Black has no answer to 1. Qc7!!. 1… Qxc7? 2. Rxe8 mate. Queen moves? 2. Rxe8 or Qg7 mate. 1. Bc5? 2. Rxe8+ Qxe8 3. Qg7 mate. Black has to give up his queen, but to not much use:
1. Qc7 Rxd8
2. Qxe7 Rxh6
3. Qxd8+ Kg7
4. Qe7+ Kg8
5. Rc1
and checkmate cannot be avoided.
Update: Also, 1… e4 2. Qxe7 is a lost cause too.
Qc7 is visually obvious. The queen can’t be taken due to Re8#, and the black queen can’t abandon the seventh rank due to Qg7#, so
1. Qc7 Rd8 (what else is there?)
2. Qe7 Rh6 (only move)
3. Qd8 Kg7
4. Qd7 Kh6
5. Qb7 g5
6. Qa6 Kh5
7. b4 g4
8. b5 g3
9. b6 Bb6
10.Qb6 g2
11.Qf2 and I think this should win for white as the queen and the rook can hold up the pawn phalanx long enough for white to queen the remaining b-pawn after white plays Ka3.
1. Qc7
Okay
All are correct !Pretty simple .
Yancey,
1. Qc7 Rd8 (what else is there?)
2. Qe7 Rh6 (only move)
3. Qd8 Kg7
4. Qe7 Kh8 (the R is on h6)
5. Rc1
I don’t see how Black can stop Rc8++.
