Am I going to spend tonight discovering which knight takes on h6-square? Looks like I am.
1. Nfxh6+
Looks like there are a lot of variations, not to mention desperado moves designed to postpone mate. What show was I planning to watch tonight?
1. .. gxh6
(1. .. Kh8 2. Nxf7+ Kg8 3. Ng5 and mates with Qh7# soon.)
(1. .. Kh7 2. Nf6+ gxf6 (2. .. Kh8 3. Nxf7#) 3. Ng4+ Kg7 (3. .. Kg8 4. Nxf6+ Kg7 5. Qh6#) (3. .. Bh6 4. Qxh6+ Kg8 5. Nxf6#) 4. Qh6+ Kg8 5. Nxf6#)
2. Nf6+ Kh8
(2. .. Kg7 3. Bxh6+ Kxf6 (3. .. Kh8 4. Bxf8#) 4. Qg5#)

i wanted to work out both variations. the second variation took me considerable effort to solve.. the hardest move for me was Bxh6 removing the pawn that was in the way.
Oh boy oh boy… develop or perish! Much of black’s forces are still in their home squares, and his queen is quite out of action. The weight of white’s attack is crippling. White wins easily with:
1. Nfxh6+ gxh6
2. Nf6+ Kh8
3. Bxh6
and whatever flimsy protection black king had, is all destroyed. Checkmate cannot be avoided.
1. Nf:h6+ gh 2. Nf6+ Kh8 3. B:h6 and mate shortly.
1.Nfxh6+ and Black cannot stop the loss of game … gxh6
(1…Kh8 2.Nxf7+ Kg8 3.Ng5 Bf5 4.exf5 Nf3+ 5.gxf3 Re8 6.Qh7#)
(1…Kh7 2.Nxf7+ Kg8 3.Ng5)
2.Nf6+ Kh8
(2…Kg7 3.Ne8+ Kh8 4.Nxc7 Ra7)
3.Bxh6 Bxh6
(3…Ng8 4.Bxf8+ Nh6 5.Qxh6#)
4.Qxh6#
One more line to mate in 7:
1. Nfxh6+ gxh6
2. Nf6+ Kh8
3. Bxh6 Bg4
4. hxg4 Nf3+
5. gxf3 Nf5
6. Bxf8+ Nh6
7. Qxh6#
