Qg5 b2
Re1-e7+ Nxe7
Qxe7++
1. Qg5 with the threat of 2. Re1-e7+ NxRe7 3. Qxe7 mate.
Black can try 1.. Qa8 2. QxNd5+ Kf6 3.Qe6 mate.
Did I solve it right?
Confession: I started checking all the rook and queen sacs. Just after I have seen that they don’t lead nowhere, I saw 1. Qg5. Quite immediately after, that is.
Qg5 Qe2
Rxe2 Bxe2
Rxe2 b2
Qxd5+ Kf8
Qxd6+ Kg8
Qd8+ Kf7
Qe7++
i thought the queen might want to get in the way. maybe this is a better effort than my disgusting Qe4 for the last problem.
ecQg5 and black can’t cover the e7 square with any piece for the mating attack by the white queen.
Qf4+ Cf6
Te1e7++ !!
Qf4+ Cf6
Te1e7++ !!
My guess:
1. Qg5 Qa1
2. Rf8+ Kxf8
3. Qd8+ Kf7
4. Qe8+ Kf6
5. Qe6++
or
1. Qg5 Bb5
2. R1e7+ Nxe7
3. Qxe7++
Wolverine,
I completely oversaw Black’s 1..Qe2. However I want to suggest an improvement to your line that goes like this:
1. Qg5 Qe2
2. Re8xe2 Bxe2
Now:
3. Qxd5+ Kf8
4. Re1xe2 b2
5. Qxd6+ Kf7
6. Qe7+ Kg8
7. Qe8 mate
The merit of the capture is to gain a tempo, capturing the Knight with a check. This is the right sequence of moves. If, as you suggested, 3. Rxe2, black can follow with 3.. Nf6, saving his knight, although I am not sure it saves his game. Anyway my line differs a little from yours and it might have some value .
All the best
Abie

1.qg5 – 9 comments to an easy to be solved puzzle, ultimatively solved by wolverine2121 about 8 – 9 hours ago – moderator on function is ridiculous, isn’t it?
1. Qg5
1. … Be2
2. R8xe2 Qxe2
3. Qxd5+ and
4. Rxe2 or (if 3. … Qe6) Qxe6+
or
1. … Qe2
2. R8xe2 Bxe2
3. Qxd5+ K move
4. Rxe2
1. … Qa1
2. Qxg5 Kf6
3. Qe6 #
Now that I’ve read others’ comments, I don’t understand cesar cavalli’s suggestion (1. Qf4) because of 1. … Nxf4. Maybe a typo. P. Anandh has this sown up well.

His meaning was
Qf4+ Nxf4 R1e7#
