Alliston chess players rank high at championship
ALLISTON – This summer at the Canadian Youth Chess Championships Calvin Rapin placed 43rd in the Under 12 age group, Oliver Rapin placed 18th in the Under 8 age group. This is for all of Canada.
Geordie Derraugh placed 72nd in the Canadian Open Chess Championship.
All are members of the Alliston Chess Association which begins meeting Saturday, Oct. 22 at noon at the Gibson Centre. The 2012 Canadian Youth Chess Championship is in Surrey, British Columbia next July and the association is hoping to send as many members as possible.
