Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Kramnik is number 7 in Russia!!!!
forget about the world!!1
Dear Mrs. Polgar
Do you recognize Kramnik’s title or not? An answer would be helpful.
well hesam. do you recognize Kramnik’s title. it is not nice to ask questions unless you are first willing to answer them also. so please tell us what you recognize.
I suspect that Kramnik may be depressed that he did not get the title shot at Topalov. Depressed because he has no other option than to play Topalov.
I suspect that he realizes that even if he wins Corus he will not get the shot at Topalov.
Susan, from your perspective, what do we here in the USA need to produce top level GM’s and the level of competition (besides Morozevich’s sleep disorder) seen at this Russian tournament? It looks like Kamsky may return to world class form, but is there really anyone else to challenge the top 10? 20?
Kasparov retiring, Kramnik’s and Leko’s free fall, Topalov’s rise, Anand maintaining his level of play etc. implies a new world order in chess
Top two: Topalov, Anand
Snapping at the heels:
Svidler, Aronian, Ponomariov, Grischuk, Bacrot
Perennial top tenners from 2007: Mamedjarov, Harikrishna, Radjabov
Future undisputed World Champ: Magnus Carlsen
How about Hikaru”Smallville”Nakamura?
Kramnik and Leko are still too young to be counted out 🙂

I’m somewhat new to chess. Could a reader here please tell me how the + or – scores are computed and is this the same as how a tournament result is calculated please?
I’d like to respond to this. Anyone that lists the top players but does not list Judit is a fool.

(Dear Mrs. Polgar, Do you recognize Kramnik’s title or not? An answer would be helpful.)
I recognize Topalov as the World Chess Champion right now. He’s also #1 in the rating chart.
Best wishes,

In 1998 Yaz Seirawan wrote an article claiming there are 4 world champs.
Was it these 4 he meant in his article?
1. Fischer (never defeated)
2. Kasparov
3. Deep Blue (beat Kasparov)
4. Ponomariov
Kramnik’s excuses and arrogance turned a lot of people off.
I dont know if Kramnik was arrogant. but I dont think you can become a world champion without some self confidence.
I thought he was a nice guy. but he should have played Kasparov for a repeat match. that is what the world wanted to see. I had the impression he was afraid of Kasparov. and to be a world champion you must not be afraid of anyone.
even after Kramnik beat kasparov in the match. I still did not consider him the world champion. I still felt Kasparov was the world champion. and I think most in the world still considered Kasparov world champion.
Now if Kramnik had taken Kasparov into a 2nd match and beat him again then I think the public opinion would have changed to be more favorable to kramnik.
kramnik never consolidated his title. the match with Leko just did not have credibility. he would again have been better off to just play Anand.
only anand and kasparov would have given him a legit title defense.
now he has a worse problem. the one ones who can give kramnik a valid title defense are kasparov and topalov and probably Anand. anyone else is just playing games. and I dont believe any of those 3 are available.
maybe if he comes up with more money. but if he has poor performance who would put up 2 million dollars.
Corus is the end of the line for Kramnik. after that if he wants a shot he has to participate in the present fide cycle and win it.
I agree with you.
Dear Susan, who is anonymus? Shirov? Kasparov? Danailov?Anand?Kramnik?
